SweetWire is a music video about the commutation of beings, data and objects. It is a meditation on cybersecurity which asks viewers to consider differences between subjects and objects, users and abusers, and right and wrong in the information industry. Just like the end of George Orwell's classic, "but already it was impossible to say which was which.." Therefore, constant examination of technical, social and ethical foundations of information systems is the foundation of serious long-term cybersecurity. Hallie Smith composed the original score on a Buchlo Analog Synthesizer. Greg Niemeyer recorded dancer Olivia Holston with a point cloud scanner. He also recorded various server room, natural history, and landscape scenes and computationally blended them using custom Java software. He then assembled the image layers in After Effects.
